Having your child successfully complete his or her homework will help ensure progress in learning. You can play an important role not only by giving tips when necessary, but also by helping your child manage homework projects. Use the following tips to help your sixth-grader become more successful.
PLOT OUT HOMEWORK: Sit down with your child and plot out his or her homework assignments. Use their planner to help your child keep track of various assignments and when they are due. Suggest using a highlighter to call out important dates, and colored pencils to indicated which assignment is for which class.
MAKE A PLAN: Help your sixth-grader come up with a plan for completing the homework logged in the planner. If several assignments are due on the same day, suggest that your child do the more difficult assignments first. When an assignment will take several days, have your child mark in the planner when he or she should begin working on it.
